Music Videos

It's time for Video Friday, and this week, we are going INTERNATIONAL!

Well, in a sense...

First up, a mildly-haunting video from recent Binary signee's, SolarSolar!. Hailing from the great nation of Canada, these guy/girl duo are crafting sweet synth pop with a touch of new-wave dance. I think Binary is a perfect label for them and they should do quite nicely. Here's to Waterloo!

SolarSolar - Walking Like Children

Next, we fly back down to Los Angeles, for this slightly different kind of video from American Royalty. Directed by Jeff Scher, this interpretive form of moving colors and drawings really fit the song, with its plucking piano notes that drop into a fuzzed out synth and a bombastic chorus.  The new EP from AR (Matchstick, coming out Feb 14th) is full of their angular blend of pop music, with vocals that bear an undeniable comparison to Ryan Adams, (which is definitely a good thing) and power-pop leanings that drive their sound home.  Enjoy.

American Royalty - Matchstick

And finally, we scoot on out to France, for the new video from Equateur! It's a nod to 80's synth sounds and a slight mix of Anoorak-style drum patterns. It's really good, and hopefully we can see more from them soon!

Equateur - Haunted

Until Next Time,
Reid.

Hey Friends!

Hopefully you had a chance to check out Straight Jam Thursday, it was a good one!

First, since January has recently closed it's doors, I felt like it would be a great time to make a playlist!  It's 19 tracks of goodness, and has some really amazing songs from people like Tensnake, Flight Facilities, Moullinex, and more!

This week, a "block of rock", if you will!

First up, the new video/single/slice-of-awesome from one of my favorite bands, Cheap Girls!   Their previous album, My Roaring 20's, was a classic slice of Mid-West power-pop-punk-rock.   If you like guitar-driven, melodic power-rock, this is your band.   Their new album , Giant Orange, is set to come out February 21st.

The first single is "Ruby", and damn-it, its GREAT!

Cheap Girls - Ruby

Next, we have a really cool video from an up and coming band from Dublin, The Cast of Cheers!  To me, they kind of sound like Dananananaykroyd mixed with Two Door Cinema Club DJ'ing a Arctic Monkey's show.

And well, obviously, that is an fantastic thing.

The Cast of Cheers - Family

Until next time,
Reid.

So, the first video is part of a project that I am currently producing/directing with my company,  Open Future Media.   It is a combination live show/documentary about the band's 10 year Reunion and Reunion Show.   It's going to be really, really awesome.  To be released on 2.15.12.

Here is the first "single".  The band?  They are Better Off Dead.   The song?   "Checkered Vans".   Enjoy.

Treasure Fingers + Malente - "Crusaders"

Vincent Did It - "So, You're Alive"

Until next time,
Reid.

2011: The Year in Review

by Reid Horton December 20, 2011

Well guys and gals, we made it! This past year, I started a new garden, found a new business partner, and released the first remix I’ve ever made. This year has been long, joyous, tiresome, amazing, slighty underwhelming, extravagant, morally-devoid, enchanting, and about 40 other adjectives that describe alternating postive and negative connotations… …in other [...]
