Hello! I'm Reid, and this is my Wild World!
If you missed the first installment of Remix Wednesdays, please follow the link to check it out, ASAP!
So, it's not Wednesday, but we do have a super sweet remix for you, courtesy of Edwin Van Cleef!
the penelopes- sally in the galaxy (edwin van cleef remix)
If you are not familiar with EVC, then, well, get with the program. With epic remixes for the likes of
Chilly Gonzales, Grum, Mighty Mouse, The Futureheads, and Housse De Racket, Edwin is quickly gaining speed in not only the charts, but in the
HEARTS.
Like I was saying...
He is making some serious jams at this point in time (namely, my favorite, Never Be Alone at Night) and this is no exception. With a a great slow building synth that blends into a a vocal harmony that slides right into some hand claps...and then, well, it's on. At this point, you are more than ready to hit the dance floor, and "cut it up", if you will. It has a very "deep house" feel to it, and I think that you'll probably hear this track a few more times in the coming months. To be released on March 19th, here is the superb remixes from Edwin Van Cleef, of The Penelopes "Sally In The Galaxy". Enjoy.
Until next time,
Reid.

Hey Friends!
It's Thursday. Sometimes known as "Thirsty Thursdays" or "Chicken Soft Taco Deal Night at Del Taco"...but for me...Its STRAIGHT JAM THURSDAYS!
Anyway... to the tunes!
This week, we feature the new track from one of my favorite bands of the moment, Gemini Club.
Gemini Club - By Surprise
This electronic-rock group has been tearing up the Chicago scene for some time now, and their last single "Ghost" was a monster smash, including some remixes from Only Children and Barretso, including others.
The new single "By Surprise" is a pounding, driving rthym with a heart of gold. The arpeggio synths lead you into a smooth vocal melody that collides with a pop harmony, and just leaves reeling while the chorus washes over you, relieving the tensions built during the bridge.
Fans of Visitor, Two Door Cinema Club, and Hey Champ! will find much to love in Gemini Club. I really see big things coming from this band in the future, so be on the lookout!
In other words: It's a jam.
Enjoy.

So, it's been kind of a slow week in the Wild World, but I'll get back to those Review Tuesdays next week, and there will be a sweet Video Friday tomorrow as well. So, thanks for checking in.
So, this week, it's the new remix from one of my favorite producers, Gigamesh, and his remix of the Grouplove song, "Tongue Tied".

With a thick drum kick leading into swirling and building vocals that melt into a soft drop-in, this song really gets you in the mood for head-nodding at about 30 seconds in. The stab synth sounds play so well into the gang vocals from Grouplove, and then the softer keyboard plucks in the bridge really throw the chorus right at you.
And that my friends, make this a STRAIGHT JAM.

Oh oh oh! It's Thursday, and I know what you need...
Straight Jams!
(Thank goodness I have this blog, or you'd be out a jam...)
So, today, we are keeping it local, as in LA, for the Straight Jam of the week, featuring Goldroom!
Goldroom- Angeles
This track is an "ode" to the City of Angels, and it is a bouncing, meandering dance/shuffle through the backstreets and bright lights. From the first hits of the conga and that reverb-soaked guitar line, you know you are in for a relaxing, yet flavorful ride. A "funk-tastic" bass line rides throughout the tune, and the floating vocals add an sense of lightness and "ethereal-ness"* to this JAM.
Without further adiueu...

Until next time,
Reid.
*Ethereal-ness is my word. It's so real, it's "Ethereal". Yep, thank me for that one.
