Ad-Free Blog: What The ^&% Does That Mean?
Hello!
A little “explainin’” is due…
People have their own reasons for going “ad-free” on their blog, and each is valid. And, I also think that blogs with ad’s are cool too. It all depends on your goals.
For me, right now, making money off of my love for sharing music is not the end goal. The end goal, is to share music with people, some who would have never heard of it otherwise. That is what I am trying to do.
I think the point of being ad-free is also the point of blogging: to share opinions. And that is just what I do, share my opinions.
At least that’s what I think.
Basically, it means the following:
- I don’t accept monetary returns for content on my blog. If you want to send me a t-shirt or get me into a concert as a thank you (which I will probably post about as well), that is fine, but certainly not the point of my blog.
- I write what I want to write about. Not what a record label or promoter tells me to.
- While I don’t discredit blogs (specifically music blogs) with advertising, because, well, it would be AWESOME to just blog about music and get paid (wait…like a writer?) but that’s just not what I am about right now. If that changes, I’ll let you know.
If you have any questions, you can shoot me an email and I’d be more than happy to answer.
-Reid.
