Let’s go ahead and sink our collective teeth into a gigantic groove sandwich…
It’s STRAIGHT JAM THURSDAY!
This week, new tunes from Classixx, Work Drugs, and Karma Kid!
First up, is a song/album/groovement I have been waiting on for a long time, and that is the debut album from L.A. natives, Classixx, and their new track, “All You’re Waiting For“! Basically, any song with Nancy Whang on vocals is going to be good, but Classixx take an funky beat and drive this tune out of the park. Bouncing on the bass lines from another dimension, you are constantly being bombarded with timely synths, excellent production, and a a chorus that will be stuck in your head for hours: ALL GOOD THINGS. If you had any doubts about their debut full length, this will erase them all. JAM!

Next up, a super smooth new jam from everyone’s favorite yacht rock group, Work Drugs, and their track, “West Coast Slide“! With their trademark guitar sounds leading the way, this tune exemplifies the Work Drugs spirit. Somewhere between dance-pop and straight up 90′s indie rock, WD always seem to find a way of crafting an incredibly catchy chorus around perfectly picked guitar lines and falsetto-range vocals that bring you back to the summers of your youth. They always seem to strike a chord of teenage love and rebellion, without the rage and distortion of other acts of my childhood, and I love it. Nostalgic, rocking, and a heavy dose of groove, this is a tune built for summer afternoons and road trips.

And to close out the day, we have a free download from across the Pond, in the form of Karma Kid‘s “In My Arms“! Deep, driving, with a soft hint of french touch, this track sets its hooks in you early, dragging you across the Lake of House and Disco with controlled precision. Hints of deep house and french house combine to form a melange of sounds that provide ample opportunity to “shake it on out” on the floor. Dance-able without being cheesy, and emotional without being whining, we have a tune that is destined for dance floors. See you on the floor!

Until next time,
